BK 117 Helicopter Crew Seat Refurbishment – Custom Cushions and Ancient Grey Leather Upholstery by Generation Global
Project Overview
For this project, Generation Global supplied a set of crew seat backrest, bottom, and headrest covers, along with new cushions for a medical BK 117 helicopter. Our client, an air ambulance operator based in northwest Germany, purchased these parts directly from Generation Global’s online shop. The new upholstery and cushions were installed by the operator to improve comfort and support during critical medical flights.

Ancient Grey Leather Seats with Honeygrid Quilting
For this project, the client selected Ancient Grey leather (ADI-1151) for the crew seats. The leather color provides a sophisticated, understated look that complements the helicopter’s interior. The center seat inserts were made from perforated leather, enhancing breathability for greater comfort during long flights.
Additionally, the Honeygrid quilting pattern (SA010) was carefully applied using Ancient Grey-colored thread, matching the leather for a clean, uniform appearance. This design not only adds aesthetic appeal but also increases the durability of the seat covers, providing long-lasting protection for the seats.
Ergonomic Support and Durable GenLite Foam
The crew seats on the BK 117 are known for their high-back design and large, half-hexagonal headrests, offering both comfort and support. The foam on the bottom and backrest of these seats is deeper than that of comparable models, providing extra ergonomic support for long flights.
The foam used in the leg lifts, back supports, and bolsters is GenLite foam, a high-quality material known for its durability and comfort, making it ideal for use in medical helicopters that demand both performance and longevity.
