The Cessna 185 Skywagon features the classic Cessna design, with front seats, single auxiliary seats in the second row, and a bench seat in the rear. To begin the refurbishment, the seats were completely stripped back to their frames, which were then prepped and repainted to accommodate the new seat covers and cushions.
The seat covers were made from premium Anthracite leather, and the new seat foam was cut from Genlite foam to ensure both comfort and durability. The center inserts in both the seat backs and bases featured perforated leather for added breathability and a sleek aesthetic. A standout feature of these seats is the vertical seam detailing, which runs down the center of both the seat back and base for a clean, modern look.
The aircraftβs linings were refurbished, including the plastics, headlining, and sidewalls. The plastics were repaired and painted in a neutral stone color, restoring their appearance. The headlining was replaced with Geneva Oak headlining fabric, which is known for its durability and stylish finish. The sidewalls were wrapped in mushroom vinyl, with inserts matching the seats made from perforated leather. These inserts were accented with vertical stitch lines, giving the interior a cohesive and sophisticated look. The lower portion of the sidewalls was finished with carpet, featuring black piping around the edges for a clean finish.
For the floor coverings, we selected Genflor WN-120 Zimmer carpets, known for their durability and smooth texture. The carpet on the floor was bound on the edges and around seat track cutouts using black mesh binding for a refined touch. Additionally, the footwell areas in front of the pilot and co-pilot were protected with alloy heel mats, adding an extra layer of protection to the flooring.
Other notable details included the replacement of the door draught excluders, pull handles, and the re-wrapping of the glare shield with a new UV-protected vinyl, ensuring both longevity and functionality.
