Diamond DA20 – Sheepskin Seat Cover Upgrade
The Project
While simple in scope, this project was a rewarding one for the Generation Global team. We replaced the seat covers and cushions in a Diamond DA20, a popular two-seater trainer aircraft. The focus was on enhancing comfort while maintaining a clean, functional look. Both leather and sheepskin upholstery kits for Diamond aircraft are available on our website—our client opted for the luxurious warmth and breathability of New Zealand sheepskin.

Material Selection

The early model DA20s originally came with sheepskin seat covers, while later models featured leather. In this refurbishment, the client chose to return to the comfort of sheepskin.

Sheepskin offers year-round comfort, staying warm in winter and cool in summer, making it a favorite among pilots of light aircraft.

The light grey sheepskin used for this project was ethically sourced from New Zealand, a country renowned for its premium quality sheepskin.
Design & Installation

Each cover is precisely tailored to the DA20’s uniquely shaped seats, which wrap around the aircraft's central control system.

The covers feature built-in Genlite foam cushions for enhanced support, affixed directly to the underside for a seamless installation.

Velcro and dome fastenings ensure a secure fit and easy removal for cleaning or replacement.
Result
This DA20’s upgraded seats now offer enhanced comfort and visual softness, perfectly suited for both training and recreational flying. The light grey sheepskin adds a modern, refined touch while delivering the exceptional tactile comfort that only genuine sheepskin can provide. It's a simple transformation—but one that makes all the difference in the cockpit.
