Project Overview: Replacement Cargo Nets for Fokker 100 Aircraft

Project Scope:

The project involved Generation Global manufacturing replacement cargo nets for the Fokker 100 aircraft, designed for use in the cargo hold to secure freight during flight. The cargo nets were supplied as a complete assembly, complete with approved design data and installation approval. These cargo nets are designed to meet rigorous aviation standards for securing cargo and ensuring flight safety. Generation Global is responsible for the design, certification, and manufacturing of custom nets for various client requirements.

Design Features:

  • Heavy-Duty 25mm Aviation Webbing:
The cargo nets are made from high-strength 25mm (1”) aviation webbing, which is known for its durability and resilience under the challenging conditions of air transport. This webbing has a rated strength of 2,000kg (4409 lbs), ensuring that the cargo remains securely in place during flight.

  • Attachment and Tensioning System:
The nets are attached to the aircraft fuselage using rated cargo studs, which ensure a reliable and secure connection to the aircraft. The nets are tensioned using rated cam buckles, providing ease of adjustment and securing the cargo efficiently.

  • MIL-Spec Compliant Hardware:
All the hardware used in the manufacturing of the cargo nets is designed to meet MIL-Spec requirements, ensuring the highest standards of strength and durability for aviation use.

  • Precise Stitching:
The nets are stitched using a computerized bar-tagger machine, which ensures precise stitching paths and consistency in the stitches per centimeter (cm), resulting in a uniform and robust finish. This ensures the cargo nets are not only functional but also durable and safe for use in aviation.

The Generation Global Contribution:

Generation Global provided the design, certification, and manufacturing of the cargo nets specifically for the Fokker 100 aircraft. With attention to detail and precision in the manufacturing process, the nets are built to withstand the forces of flight while ensuring that cargo is safely secured during transit. The team’s expertise in aviation safety standards and manufacturing excellence guarantees the reliability and longevity of these nets for the airline's operations.

Client Background:

This Australian regional operator specializes in fly-in fly-out services, supporting the mining and energy sectors by providing regular, efficient transport for workers to remote locations across the country. Traditionally operating Fokker 70 and Fokker 100 aircraft, the airline has recently expanded its fleet with the addition of the Embraer 190 jets. The airline plays a critical role in supporting industries in remote areas and providing timely and reliable air services to Australia's industrial sectors.
