MD 520 Notar Helicopter Interior Refurbishment Project

Project Overview
This project involved Generation Global supplying and installing a complete interior refurbishment for an MD 520 Notar helicopter. The refurbishment included everything from wrapping the interior linings to the front seating. While the MD 520N may have a rudimentary and simplistic design, it is full of detailed parts that require a careful and precise touch. For more MD 500 series interior parts, visit our online shop.

Interior Features and Design
The front seats of the MD 520 are made up of individual seat cushions: two outboard seats and a dickie seat placed in between. These seats are arranged to form a bench seat across the front of the helicopter. The outboard seat cushions include cut-outs between the occupant’s legs to allow for uninterrupted movement of the controls. The seat upholstery was crafted in Lead Grey (ADI-1111) aviation leather, featuring perforated (SP1) inserts and decorative vertical stitch lines. The upper backrests of the seats showcase the MD insignia, embroidered in black and red, while the outside seats feature white double stitching.

The rear seats are designed as utility sling seats, made from a special mesh fabric that is tensioned onto the seat frame. This lightweight and durable material offers flexibility and comfort for rear-seat passengers.

All interior trim panels were wrapped in a lightweight synthetic leather, providing an optimal finish. This wrapping material is a 3-way stretch product, allowing even the most complex parts to be seamlessly covered. The bulkhead separating the front and rear sections of the cabin was also wrapped in this material, along with two rear-facing pockets that were upholstered in the same Lead Grey leather used for the front seats.

The floor coverings were made from nylon cut-pile carpet, providing a durable and stylish finish to the cabin.
