THE PROJECT

The PA 28-151 is a handsome little single-engine plane that’s been produced by Piper Aircraft in various forms for over 60 years. For this project, Generation Global performed a complete seating refurbish, which involved the restoration of all four seat frames and the installation of new diaphragms, cushions, and covers. All repairs were made under Generation Global’s NZCAA Maintenance Certificate, though parts are also available under a Global Certification on Generation Global’s website.

PA 28's come in both two-seat and four-seat configurations - this plane had the latter. The two front seats are singles, while the rear seats are combined into a bench. We first set to work stripping these seats down to their frames, which we then repainted in black.

Next, we installed new cushions and added seat coverings featuring Ancient Grey leather (ADI-1151) with green stitching. The green stitching blends in with the leather when viewed from afar but really pops when viewed up close - it provides a stylish, though subtle, contrast.

This particular PA-28 was a Cherokee Warrior model. Registered in New Zealand, it now calls Marlborough home, although it has flown across both Spain and the U.S. - quite an impressive, globetrotting history for this little plane. And now, with newly refurbished seats, it’s ready to take to the skies once again!
