Project Spotlight: Custom Medical Seating for BK 117 Helicopter
In this exciting project, Generation Global provided custom seat covers and cushions for a medical system installed in a BK 117 helicopter. Designed and certified by the client, this medical system includes specialized seating arrangements that provide functionality, comfort, and durability, essential for helicopter-based medical operations. All of the BK 117 interior parts used in this project, including regular components, are available in Generation Global’s online shop.
Custom Seating Design for Medical System
The medical system designed for the BK 117 features six rear seats and a stretcher, with the seats facing aft behind the crew seats and positioned on one side of the stretcher for easy patient access. The seat covers and cushions were custom-made based on the client’s specific drawings and requirements, ensuring a perfect fit for the medical system setup.
The seat covers were crafted using Anthracite Grey (CG002) aviation leather, providing a sleek and professional look. The contrasting white stitching along the outer seams adds a clean, polished finish, while the vertical decorative stitching on the seat base and back inserts enhances the seats' aesthetic. To further improve comfort, the inserts were perforated, allowing for breathability in the seatbacks, crucial for long-duration flights.
Each seat was also equipped with a headrest, which prominently features the aircraft operator's logo embroidered in the center, adding a personal and professional touch to the medical system’s design.

They have extensive experience in adapting aircraft for medical operations and search and rescue missions, incorporating specialized equipment such as stretcher holds and aerial hoists.
