Generation Global recently had the opportunity to refurbish the MD500 helicopter with new seat upholstery that enhances both the comfort and aesthetic appeal of the aircraft. Our comprehensive MD500 interior kitset included replacement seat cushions, leather dress covers, and moulded backing panels, all of which are available for purchase through Generation Global’s online shop.
MD500 Seat Upholstery Kitset: Custom Fit, Hassle-Free Installation
For this project, we supplied an all-in-one kit that makes the installation process quick and simple. The MD500 upholstery kit includes everything you need for a professional, high-quality refurbishment, including seat cushions, leather covers, and moulded backing panels. The rear seat frame was sent to Generation Global's Nelson facility for precise installation of the upholstery.
Quality Leather Upholstery: Charcoal Grey Aviation Leather
We used Charcoal Grey (ADI-1121) aviation leather for the seat dress covers, ensuring durability and style. The design features vertical stitching along the seat bottoms and backrests for a clean, professional look, while the centre pillion seat cover remains plain without stitching lines for a sleek, minimalistic appearance.
Every stitch was carefully matched to the leather, giving the seats a seamless, high-end finish that complements the aircraft’s overall design. The moulded backing panels attached to the seats were custom-shaped to fit the MD500's airframe, maintaining the OEM specifications.
MD500 Helicopter: A Legacy of Reliability
The MD500 is known for its compact, versatile design and has been a staple in the helicopter industry for many years. Manufactured in 1981, this aircraft was originally sold in the United States before being brought to New Zealand, where it now resides with a helicopter maintenance provider based at Ardmore Airport, a secondary airport in Auckland.
With this upholstery upgrade, the MD500 is ready for continued service, ensuring that both functionality and comfort are enhanced for every flight.
