Project Spotlight: R22 Headlining and Flooring Upgrade – Practical Yet Stylish Solutions
The R22, a two-seater light utility helicopter, has been a trusted model in the aviation industry for over forty years. Manufactured by the Robinson Helicopter Company, the R22 is known for its reliability and versatility. For this project, Generation Global completed a headlining and flooring upgrade for one of our clients’ R22s. All components were manufactured under EASA Part 21G production approval and released under Part 21J design approval—ensuring compliance with international aviation standards. Upgraded Flooring for Durability and Safety
For this R22, we selected Graphite Moonwalk (MW-200) flooring, a practical yet reliable option designed to withstand the wear and tear that comes with regular use. Graphite Moonwalk provides a grippy surface, helping to prevent slips and ensuring safety for the crew and passengers. It features a raised tread design, enhancing durability while maintaining a clean, utilitarian look.
The flooring was carefully cut to include precise cutouts for controls, heater configurations, and other raised elements within the aircraft, ensuring a seamless fit and providing a smooth, functional surface for the interior.
Graphite Headlining for a Professional Look
To complement the flooring, we installed a graphite-colored headlining fabric (HL105) with a foam backing. This choice provides a subdued, professional aesthetic while being highly practical. The headlining fabric was used to cover two roof sections and the rear bulkhead behind the rear seats. We made sure to incorporate a special cutout for the roof window, ensuring that every detail was accounted for during the installation process.
