Project Spotlight: Schweizer 269 Interior Refurbishment – Netherlands
The Schweizer 269 is a small, nimble, and versatile helicopter originally introduced by Hughes Helicopters in 1964 and later produced by Schweizer Aircraft in the 1980s. For this project, Generation Global was tasked with refreshing the seating of a Schweizer 269 for a client based in the Netherlands.
We provided custom seat back and base covers, along with new cushions for the crew seat, passenger seat, and the center “dicky” seat. All parts used for this project are available through Generation Global’s online shop.
Custom Upholstery Design & Materials
The Schweizer 269 has a unique seating arrangement, with individual seat back and base squabs mounted directly onto the airframe structure. The seatbacks feature composite backing panels that are shaped to match the contours of the bulkhead, providing a secure and ergonomic fit. Each seatback is also secured using Velcro attachments, ensuring an easy installation process.
Upholstery Details:
-
Charcoal Gray leather (ADI-1121) was selected for the upholstery, offering a sophisticated, muted aesthetic
-
Perforated leather inserts were added to improve wicking and breathability, enhancing comfort during flights
-
Detailed Schweizer logo embroidery in a lighter-colored thread was added to each seatback, adding a custom touch that matches the helicopter’s professional look
This clean, modern color scheme and attention to detail ensure that the helicopter’s interior is both visually appealing and functional.
