Project Spotlight: Robinson R44 Interior Refresh – A Stylish Update for a Classic Helicopter
The Robinson R44, a highly popular light utility helicopter, has been in production since the early 1990s. With over 6,000 units built and still in production today, the R44 continues to serve in a variety of roles across the globe. For this project, Generation Global performed a complete interior refresh for a client’s R44, including the supply of new seating, carpets, headlining, door inserts, and control boots. Interior Design & Materials
For this R44 interior refurbishment, we selected Rye Beige leather (ADI-4221) as the primary upholstery color, giving the helicopter a sleek and timeless look. The Beige headlining (HL-102) added to the cohesive, light-colored theme throughout the cabin.
Seating:

Generation II style seats, designed with the classic Robinson pleating, provide comfort and durability

Each seatback was embossed with the iconic R44 logo, adding a personalized touch

The leather covers were sewn with matching stitching, and new foam cushioning was added to enhance passenger comfort

The seating was installed onto the composite seat pans with precision, using metal retainers and hinges to ensure a secure fit
Door Inserts & Headlining:

The four door inserts were finished with the same Rye Beige leather (ADI-4221) as the seats, creating a seamless interior look

The headlining was crafted from Beige fabric (HL-102) and included precisely-measured cutouts for handholds, ensuring functionality while maintaining the sophisticated aesthetic
Flooring & Accessories
For the R44 carpeting, we chose a darker shade of Zimmer carpet (WN-120), which contrasts nicely with the light-colored seating and headlining. The carpet segments were meticulously cut to fit the specific needs of the R44, including cutouts for the LH and RH side heaters.
Control Boots:

The control boots were crafted from Black leather (ADI-1091), complementing the darker tones of the carpet and adding a refined touch to the overall interior.
